RISQ 3.2 for Ship Masters – Complete Guidance & Practical Implementation

Objective: This course is specifically designed for Ship Masters to provide a clear, structured, and practical understanding of all 17 chapters of Rightship RISQ 3.2. The program focuses on the Master’s responsibilities, effective onboard implementation, and inspection readiness. It equips Ship Masters with the knowledge and practical insight required to manage vessels efficiently, confidently face Rightship vetting inspections, and maintain the highest standards of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) performance.
Target Audience: Ship Masters and Chief Mates preparing for promotion, as well as Masters responsible for managing Rightship inspections and vessel vetting requirements.
Participants: Maximum 6 participants
Language: The course will be conducted in English.
Course Structure: The course follows a structured progression through Rightship RISQ 3.2 from a Ship Master’s perspective. It begins with key foundational requirements, advances through practical onboard implementation, and concludes with real-world inspection scenarios and commonly observed vetting findings relevant to Masters.
Methodology: The course employs interactive lectures, practical shipboard examples, real inspection case studies, group discussions, and scenario-based exercises to ensure effective learning and direct applicability onboard.
Course Description: This course provides an in-depth, Master-focused overview of the revised Rightship Inspection Ship Questionnaire (RISQ 3.2). Emphasis is placed on areas where Ship Masters are directly assessed during inspections, including command responsibility, shipboard leadership, safety management systems, risk assessment, navigation practices, cargo operations, and environmental compliance. Participants will gain a clear understanding of inspection expectations, common observations, and best practices to ensure consistent compliance and
inspection readiness.
Course Requirements: Basic knowledge of shipboard operations and familiarity with the ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and applicable maritime regulations. Prior experience with vessel inspections is beneficial but not mandatory. No prior RISQ experience is required.
