standards, managing Life-Saving Appliances (LSA) and Fire-Fighting Equipment (FFE), overseeing cargo operations, and ensuring effective crew management. The course equips Chief Officers with the knowledge and practical skills required to support the Master, maintain inspection readiness, and meet Rightship vetting expectations with confidence.
Target Audience: Chief Officers, Senior Officers preparing for promotion, and officers responsible for safety management, cargo operations, and crew supervision onboard.

Course Structure: The course follows a structured progression through Rightship RISQ 3.2 from a Chief Officer’s perspective. It begins with core ISM and safety requirements, advances through practical onboard implementation related to LSA/FFE, cargo and deck operations, and crew
management, and concludes with real-world inspection scenarios and common vetting observations relevant to Chief Officers.
Methodology: The course employs interactive lectures, practical shipboard examples, real inspection case studies, group discussions, and scenario-based exercises to ensure effective learning and direct application of knowledge onboard.
Course Description: This course provides an in-depth, Chief Officer-focused overview of the revised Rightship Inspection Ship Questionnaire (RISQ 3.2). Emphasis is placed on areas where Chief Officers are directly assessed during inspections, including effective implementation of the ISM Code, shipboard safety management, maintenance and readiness of LSA and FFE, planning and execution of cargo operations, risk assessment, permit-to-work systems, and day-to-day crew management. Participants will gain a clear understanding of inspection expectations, common deficiencies, and best practices to ensure consistent compliance and a high standard of onboard safety.
Course Requirements: Basic knowledge of shipboard operations and familiarity with the ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and applicable maritime regulations. Prior experience with vessel inspections is beneficial but not mandatory. No prior RISQ experience is required.
