Independent Dry-Dock Attendance & Repair Monitoring
PAMS Pacific Admiralty Maritime Services provides independent marine technical attendance, shipyard repair monitoring and technical inspection support for scheduled dry-docking and emergency dry-docking. Our services help shipowners and technical managers assess repair work, monitor progress, document findings and verify completed activities against the agreed technical scope.
Independent Dry-Dock Technical Consultancy
Dry-docking is a critical period in a vessel's maintenance and repair cycle. Effective technical oversight helps identify defects, assess repair requirements, monitor shipyard activities and document the condition of the vessel and its equipment before the vessel returns to service.
PAMS Pacific Admiralty Maritime Services provides independent dry-dock attendance and repair monitoring for shipowners, ship operators and technical managers requiring professional marine engineering and surveying support. Attendance is arranged according to the vessel, shipyard location, agreed scope of work and assignment requirements.
Our technical involvement may cover hull and structural repairs, machinery and propulsion systems, marine equipment, coating works, inspections, repair progress and technical close-out. Findings are documented to support informed decisions by the vessel's owner and authorised technical representatives.
Scheduled and emergency dry-docking: PAMS can be approached for planned docking periods, unplanned dry-docking following damage or technical defects, and urgent shipyard repair assignments. Emergency attendance is subject to availability, location, access arrangements and agreement on the required technical scope.
Scheduled & Emergency Dry-Dock Attendance
Dry-dock assignments differ according to whether the vessel is undergoing planned maintenance or requires urgent intervention following an unexpected technical problem. PAMS tailors its independent technical attendance to the circumstances and agreed requirements of each assignment.
Scheduled Dry-Docking
Independent technical attendance during planned dry-docking, periodic maintenance, class-related repair periods and scheduled shipyard work. Support may include reviewing agreed repair scopes, monitoring progress, witnessing inspections and documenting the completion of specified activities.
Emergency Dry-Docking
Technical attendance for unplanned docking and urgent repairs following damage, machinery-related incidents or other technical defects requiring shipyard intervention. Subject to availability and agreed arrangements, support may include condition assessment, repair monitoring, inspection witnessing and reporting of outstanding technical issues.
Dry-Dock Attendance & Repair Monitoring Services
The technical scope is agreed for each vessel and project. Depending on the assignment, independent attendance may include the following activities.
Hull & Structural Repairs
Monitoring specified hull repairs, steel renewals, structural defects and related repair activities. Technical observations may include the condition of exposed structures and the suitability of completed work for assessment against the agreed repair specification.
Machinery & Propulsion Systems
Technical attendance for agreed machinery and propulsion work, including main and auxiliary machinery, pumps, associated equipment, tailshaft and rudder inspections, and other systems included in the vessel's repair scope.
Sea Valves & Marine Equipment
Monitoring and witnessing specified inspection, maintenance and repair activities involving sea valves, piping systems, marine equipment and associated components, subject to the agreed technical requirements.
Surface Preparation & Coating
Technical monitoring of agreed surface preparation, corrosion protection and coating activities. Attendance may include witnessing specified inspections and documenting observed conditions and reported deficiencies.
Repair Scope & Progress Monitoring
Reviewing the agreed repair scope and documenting progress, technical observations, identified deficiencies and outstanding items. Where required, findings can be communicated to the owner's designated technical representative.
Inspection & Repair Verification
Witnessing specified inspections and reviewing available evidence of completed repairs against the agreed scope. Any limitations, deficiencies and outstanding matters can be recorded for further assessment and follow-up.
Dry-Dock Technical Attendance Process
Each assignment is planned around the vessel's condition, docking schedule, shipyard arrangements and the owner's technical priorities. The precise activities depend on the agreed scope and the inspections required.
Scope Review & Assignment Planning
Review the vessel details, intended docking period, repair specifications, reported defects and requested attendance. For emergency assignments, priorities are established around the immediate technical circumstances and the work requiring assessment.
On-Site Technical Attendance
Attend agreed shipyard activities to observe specified repairs, witness inspections where arranged, document findings and identify matters requiring clarification or further technical assessment.
Progress Reporting & Technical Findings
Provide technical observations and progress information appropriate to the agreed assignment, including relevant photographs, identified deficiencies and outstanding repair items where applicable.
Repair Close-Out
Review available evidence of the specified work, record unresolved technical matters and provide a close-out report where included in the agreed scope. Final acceptance, statutory certification and class approval remain with the responsible owner, authorised parties and relevant organisations, as applicable.
Technical Reporting & Deliverables
Clear documentation is an important part of independent dry-dock attendance. Reporting is tailored to the scope of the assignment and the information required by the shipowner or designated technical manager.
- Records of technical observations made during agreed attendance.
- Photographic documentation of relevant conditions and repair activities, where permitted.
- Updates on repair progress and specified inspection activities.
- Identification of observed deficiencies and outstanding work requiring follow-up.
- Technical comments concerning completed repairs within the agreed scope of attendance.
- Final technical reporting and repair close-out documentation, where included in the assignment.
The extent of attendance, reporting frequency and deliverables are agreed with the client before commencement wherever circumstances permit. Emergency assignments may require an initial prioritisation of urgent technical issues, followed by further attendance and reporting as arrangements allow.
Independent Technical Representation
PAMS Pacific Admiralty Maritime Services provides independent technical consultancy focused on the condition of the vessel, the agreed repair requirements and the technical evidence available during attendance.
Our role is to support the shipowner's or authorised technical representative's understanding of repair progress and findings. Technical observations are documented objectively, with attention to identified deficiencies, the scope of inspection and matters requiring further review.
PAMS does not represent the shipyard's commercial interests. Any attendance, witnessing or verification is limited to the agreed scope and does not replace statutory surveys, classification society attendance, shipyard quality-control responsibilities or the owner's final acceptance of the work.
PAMS operates as an independent marine technical consultancy. It does not provide ship agency, crewing or recruitment, husbandry, bunker supply, freight or logistics services, or commercial ship management.
