Year Built2012
Deadweight52,000 DWT
Classification SocietyDNV
Main EngineMAN B&W 6S50MC-C
Trading AreaMediterranean / Black Sea
Purpose of SurveyPre-purchase condition and valuation

Scope of Inspection

The survey included: Hull structure, Cargo hold, Ballast tank, Main engine, Auxiliary machinery, Electrical systems, Navigation/bridge systems, Safety equipment, ISM/Statutory certificates, and Market valuation analysis.

1. Hull & Structural Condition

The underwater hull coating was considered fair with localized corrosion near the port-side bilge keel. Ultrasonic thickness measurements showed steel wastage of 8% to 14% in selected ballast tank sections.

  • Recommendations: Renew ~14m² of steel plating; Recoat tanks during next drydock; Inspect bilge keel weld seams.
  • Condition Rating: Satisfactory / Medium Maintenance Required

2. Cargo Holds

Structurally sound. Hatch covers passed hose testing with minor gasket compression issues on Hold No. 3. Surface rust in lower hopper areas and minor ladder deformation observed.

Operational Risk: Low

3. Machinery Assessment

Main engine has ~78,000 running hours with complete maintenance records.

  • Findings: Slight exhaust temperature imbalance (Cyl No. 4); Turbocharger efficient; Generators and oily water separator operational.
  • Recommendation: Schedule injector calibration within next 2,000 hours.
  • Condition Rating: Good

Commercial Vessel Valuation

Value Type Estimated Value
Fair Market ValueUSD 11.8 Million
Forced Sale ValueUSD 10.2 Million
Insurance Replacement EstimateUSD 18.5 Million

Final Surveyor Opinion

The vessel was considered operationally fit for continued service with no immediate structural or machinery concerns affecting seaworthiness. Moderate maintenance investment would be required within the next scheduled drydock period.

Overall Condition Rating: Good Commercial Condition | Recommended Purchase Risk Level: Moderate-Low

Vessel Condition & Valuation Survey FAQ

Purpose of Pre-Purchase Survey

Provides an independent, objective assessment of technical condition and market value, helping buyers mitigate financial risk and identify necessary future maintenance investments.

Market Valuation Methodology

We evaluate market data to provide Fair Market Value, Forced Sale Value, and an Insurance Replacement Estimate, ensuring a comprehensive view of the asset's financial standing.

Hull & Tank Structural Inspection

Includes hull coating assessment, ultrasonic thickness measurements of ballast tanks to detect steel wastage, and examination of critical weld seams like the bilge keel.

Main Engine Assessment

We review historical maintenance records, monitor performance parameters like exhaust temperatures, and verify the operational status of key auxiliary machinery.

Moderate-Low Risk Rating

This indicates the vessel is operationally fit and seaworthy, requiring only standard, scheduled maintenance investment rather than major, unexpected structural repairs.

Cargo Hold Integrity

Ensuring hatch cover integrity via hose testing and verifying the absence of defects in hoppers is essential to prevent cargo damage and ensure safety compliance.
